Participation Expectations

ECU Season Structure

The ECU "official" seasons are:

FALL:  Mid-August through early October

SPRING: Post spring break through the conclusion of play in mid July

Teams are formed in July and include participation in both fall and spring seasons.

2019/20 Team Expectations

In response to changes in the MYSA league structure, the Girls and Boys Team Directors, along with the Team Formation Committee and prospective coaches, will select from the following options based on the best fit for each team's competitive level.  The changes in MYSA are largely a response to the Twin Cities Soccer League which has drawn many clubs away from MYSA. The league emphasizes less travel for teams within a 30-minute radius around the new MN United stadium.

MYSA League

There is not a valid C1 MYSA option for our 12U and younger teams that would provide home games. C2 and C3 teams will be set up with regional league play (our region being Western WI), and years will be double-banded, meaning that 11U and 12U will be part of the same league, 13U and 14U together, and so on.

C1 league play for 13U and up will remain similar to league play in past years, though the travel region may expand and require games against teams located further away than we are used to (think possibly Rochester, Duluth, etc.).

WYSA State League

The WYSA district is state-wide. League play in this league seems like an option for our strongest C1 teams, but would require travel as far as Milwaukee. Games could be played on the weekends.

Tournament-Only

This option may allow more flexibility in scheduling, but typically is a more expensive option for families.

Club Guidelines by Age Group


9U/10U Teams

Plan on 2-3 training sessions per week of 60-75 minutes each

FALL:           Participate in MYSA League (weekend games) and one tournament

OR

Select two or more tournaments

WINTER:      Optional team training indoors

SPRING:       Select up to four tournaments

11U/12U Teams

Plan on 2-3 training sessions per week of 75-90 minutes each

FALL:            Participate in MYSA League and one tournament

OR

Select three or more tournaments

 

WINTER:      Optional team training indoors

SPRING:       Participate in MYSA League and two or more tournaments

OR

Select up to four tournaments

13U-18U Teams

Plan on 3-4 training sessions per week of 90+ minutes each

FALL:           Participate in MYSA League and one tournament

OR

Select three or more tournaments

WINTER:      Optional team training indoors

SPRING:       Participate in MYSA League and two or more tournaments

OR

Select up to four tournaments
